Summer’s anything but over because Piknic is still going hard!

This week, as we always do, Piknic will bring a variety pack of trippy sounds to the Calder to keep you smiling and grooving. ESP Institute founder and Dekmantel podcast veteran Lovefingers is taking on the opening slot and this self-professed hippie will be sprinkling magic all over the dance floor with his psychedelic beats and deep grooves. Then, we’ll jump over to the Netherlands to check out Young Marco. This Giles Peterson approved talent specializes in dubby, broken rhythms of a twisted bent and we can’t wait to hear what he has in store for us. Finally, the Solotech stage fun will end with a true rave legend: DJ Harvey will be in the spot and this dance music institution is preparing an all out clinic to show us how it’s done.

We’ll also be presenting a big Anoma Records showcase this week at the Vidéotron Mobile stage, highlighting this talented Montreal-based label’s many sounds. Notably, MUTEK veteran and Montreal class-act Magnanime will deliver a patented live set full of glitchy, experimental grooves guaranteed to make you sweat it all out on the floor. Immediately before and after this musical magic, Ohm Hourani will deliver 2 sets, opening and closing the stage and taking us deeper than we’ve ever gone before. Sharing the minimalist percussion that has wowed Montrealers at venues like Stereobar every time they’ve caught him, it’s guaranteed to be a can’t miss experience.
